No one warned me that I would not only be dealing with insomnia, itchy skin and mood swings at 42 from perimenopause while simultaneously dealing with two tweens going through their own mood swings from puberty. One minute I'm mediating a sibling standoff over the last beef jerky stick and the next I'm sweating through my favorite shirt,
No one warned me that I would not only be dealing with insomnia, itchy skin and mood swings at 42 from perimenopause while simultaneously dealing with two tweens going through their own mood swings from puberty. One minute I'm mediating a sibling standoff over the last beef jerky stick and the next I'm sweating through my favorite shirt, stripping it off down to my sports bra while itching my skin until it bleeds. Struggling to stay awake between 3-5PM, then to get a second wind and not being able to sleep at night. Welcome to our house- its messy, chaotic, loud, hilarious and totally underrated.
Can we talk about Perimenopause? I was not aware of this until recently diagnosing myself on TikTok, Google, Chat GPT etc.
The Mental Game..............
-Brain fog while helping your oldest with mental health classes during the summer? Check
-Mood swings vs tween mood swings and a tired husband-who wins?
-Crying over a smashed blueberry on the floor
Real-Life Moments I Didn't Expect
-Yelling "Who took my phone" while holding it.
-Trying to be present, fun, outgoing while my body just feels off
-Rollercoasters of anxiety and body image issues
-Breaking down in tears because my oldest son is taller than me.
-Feeling like a child again playing the guessing game of when my period would like to appear and ruin my life for a few days.
What's saving me right now?
-Writing this nonsense
-TikTok with others in the same boat
-Late night binge watching of Bravo
-Cotton Candy Alani or Cherry Twist Alani
-Online shopping at 1am for items I don't need
-Time with the gals
-Living in a closet full of black
The lesson I'm Learning (Slower than a snail pace)
-Grace over guilt!
-Letting go of others expectations or comparing myself to those that appear to have it all together. "Let Them"
-Crying than laughing all within the same 15 minutes and being okay with that.
-That my kids like to sing "Sweet but Psycho" by Ava Max in reference to my moods and I couldn't say it better myself!
